Ingredients explained

Every walk, jump and play session puts demands on your dog's joints. Cartilage helps absorb the load, joint fluid lets the joint surfaces glide smoothly past each other, and connective tissue provides support. That's why our Advanced Hip & Joint Chews combine eight ingredients that each tie in, in their own way, with the normal structure and function of the musculoskeletal system.

Why this particular combination?Glucosamine and chondroitin match the natural composition of cartilage. MSM provides sulfur, vitamin C is involved in normal collagen formation, and hyaluronic acid is a component of joint fluid. Green-lipped mussel, omega-3 and yucca round out that foundation with marine and plant-based components.
Glucosamine HClHelps the body build substances that are naturally found in cartilage.

Joints contain cartilage: a smooth, springy layer that helps bones move smoothly past each other. Glucosamine is a building block the body uses to make parts of that cartilage. That's why it's in this daily joint formula.

Small & medium breeds 400 mg per chew (2 g)Large breeds 1250 mg per chew (8 g)
  • A building block the body uses for cartilage
  • Part of daily joint care
MSMProvides sulfur, a substance that also occurs naturally in the body.

MSM is a source of sulfur. The body contains sulfur in all kinds of tissues, including connective tissue: the tissue that, for example, helps support the joints. In these chews, MSM complements the other ingredients. The effect on mobility varies from dog to dog.

Small & medium breeds 200 mg per chew (2 g)Large breeds 400 mg per chew (8 g)
  • Provides a naturally occurring nutrient
  • Complements the formula for joints and connective tissue
Chondroitin sulfateIs a component of cartilage and helps it retain moisture.

Cartilage works a bit like a springy little cushion between the bones. Chondroitin is a substance that occurs there naturally and can hold on to water. That moisture is important for the springiness of cartilage.

Small & medium breeds 50 mg per chew (2 g)Large breeds 150 mg per chew (8 g)
  • Part of the natural composition of cartilage
  • Helps explain why cartilage is springy
Green-lipped musselProvides nutrients from the sea, including special fatty acids.

Green-lipped mussel is a shellfish from the sea. It naturally contains various nutrients, such as fatty acids. In these chews, it complements the substances that fit with joint care.

Small & medium breeds 50 mg per chew (2 g)Large breeds 100 mg per chew (8 g)
  • A natural source of nutrients from the sea
  • A complement to the other ingredients
Vitamin CHelps the body make collagen, which is important for connective tissue.

You can think of collagen as a sturdy network that helps hold together things like ligaments and other connective tissue. Vitamin C is needed for the body to make this collagen normally. It also helps protect the body's cells against harmful influences from outside and from metabolism.

Small & medium breeds 10 mg per chew (2 g)Large breeds 50 mg per chew (8 g)
  • Important for normal collagen production
  • Helps protect body cells against oxidative stress
Hyaluronic acidOccurs naturally in the fluid that lubricates the joints.

A joint contains fluid that lets the moving parts glide past each other easily. Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of that fluid and helps give it its thick, lubricating character. That makes it a logical ingredient in a formula for daily joint care.

Small & medium breeds 10 mg per chew (2 g)Large breeds 21 mg per chew (8 g)
  • Found in natural joint fluid
  • Part of the joints' lubrication system
Omega-3Adds fatty acids from fish oil to the daily diet.

Omega-3 is a group of fatty acids the body uses for all kinds of normal processes. The chews add a small amount of fish oil to your dog's diet: from wild Alaskan salmon oil for small & medium breeds, and from wild Alaskan pollock oil for large breeds.

Small & medium breeds 6 mg per chew (2 g)Large breeds 16.5 mg per chew (8 g)
  • Extra fatty acids to complement the daily diet
  • Small & medium breeds and large breeds use different fish oil sources
Yucca schidigeraA plant extract that rounds out the formula with natural plant compounds.

Yucca schidigera is a plant whose extract has been added to our chews. The plant naturally contains substances that can help protect the body against harmful influences. Yucca schidigera is also used as a supplement to dogs' diets. That makes it a natural addition to our formula for your dog's daily care.

Small & medium breeds 6 mg per chew (2 g)Large breeds 10 mg per chew (8 g)
  • A plant-based addition to the formula
  • Naturally contains various plant compounds

This explanation describes the biological role of these substances and is not a guarantee that taking the chews will give the same results in every dog. If your dog has ongoing pain, lameness or mobility problems, consult a vet.

Backed by science

80% of dogs over 8 years old have joint problems

Research shows that half of adult dogs (age 4 and up) deal with natural wear and tear in their joints. In dogs older than 8, this rises to as much as 80%.

The cartilage in the joints works as a natural shock absorber between the bones. Over time, this cartilage can become thinner and less supple, which can limit your dog. You often notice this as stiffness, shorter walks and less eagerness to jump.

Daily care

What can you expect in the first 8 weeks?

Week 1

Laying the foundation

You start a consistent routine. Your dog gets glucosamine, MSM, chondroitin and the other nutrients along with their daily food. Any changes in movement are usually not easy to judge yet.

Week 2–3

Supporting the joints every day

The eight carefully selected ingredients complement each other in one complete formula. Glucosamine and chondroitin are naturally connected to cartilage, vitamin C plays an important role in normal collagen production, and green-lipped mussel and omega-3 add valuable nutrients from the sea. Together they form a balanced complement to your dog's daily joint care.

Week 4–6

Keep an eye on movement

Hyaluronic acid, a natural part of joint fluid, and MSM are also part of the formula. Pay attention to things like how your dog gets up, walks and climbs stairs; improvement is not guaranteed.

Week 6–8

A steady habit

After a few weeks, you can evaluate the daily routine. Combine appropriate exercise, healthy food and a suitable weight with the normal maintenance dose.

This is an explanation of use over time, not a proven results schedule. Ongoing stiffness, lameness or pain calls for a vet.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Everything about the soft chews, dosage and ingredients.

Which dogs are these soft chews suitable for?

Our Hip & Joint Support Soft Chews are developed for dogs that could use some extra support in keeping their joints supple and healthy.

Whether your dog is getting older, moving a bit more stiffly, having trouble getting up or is very active: our soft chews are meant to support the joints every day.

They're especially worth considering for older dogs, large breeds and active dogs.

There are two versions available:

  • Small & medium breeds: for dogs up to 65 lbs (60 soft chews per jar).
  • Large breeds: for dogs 65 lbs and up (60 soft chews per jar).

That makes it easy to choose the version that fits your dog's weight and needs.

How many soft chews should I give my dog each day?

The right amount depends on your dog's weight. That's why we have two versions, each with its own dosage.

Small & medium breeds – dogs up to 65 lbs

  • 0–35 lbs: 1 soft chew per day.
  • Over 35 to 65 lbs: 2 soft chews per day.

Large breeds – dogs 65 lbs and up

  • 66–100 lbs: 1 soft chew per day.
  • Over 100 to 120 lbs: 1.5 soft chews per day.
  • 121 lbs and up: 2 soft chews per day.

Important: for the first 4 weeks, we recommend a double starting dose. After that, you switch to the normal daily maintenance dose.

Ideally, give the soft chews during or after a meal, and always follow the recommended dosage on the packaging.

When can I expect results?

Every dog is different. How quickly you notice a difference depends on things like your dog's age, weight, condition and any joint problems.

Some pet parents notice after a few weeks that their dog gets up more easily, moves more freely or walks along a bit more eagerly again. With other dogs, it can take longer before there's a noticeable difference.

That's why we recommend giving the soft chews consistently for 6 to 8 weeks and keeping a close eye on your dog's mobility during that time.

Joint support takes time. Our soft chews aren't a quick fix, but are meant as a daily supplement to support the joints over the longer term.

Results vary from dog to dog and are not guaranteed.

Can these chews support older or stiffer dogs?

Our Hip & Joint Support Soft Chews can be a valuable addition to the daily routine of older or less active dogs.

The formula contains glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM and green-lipped mussel, among other ingredients. These ingredients were selected to support your dog's normal joint function, cartilage and mobility.

Many pet parents use them to support comfortable, easy movement. Whether and how much difference you notice varies from dog to dog.

Our soft chews are not a medicine and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. They work best as part of a healthy routine, together with appropriate exercise, a healthy weight and regular vet checkups.

Is your dog in a lot of pain, limping or getting stiffer and stiffer? Then always consult a vet.

How do the Hip & Joint Support Soft Chews work?

Our soft chews combine eight active ingredients that complement each other in the daily support of healthy joints.

Glucosamine and chondroitin are substances that match the natural composition of cartilage. MSM provides sulfur, which occurs naturally in various body tissues, including connective tissue.

Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in joint fluid, while green-lipped mussel and omega-3 fatty acids provide additional nutrients. Vitamin C is involved in normal collagen formation, and Yucca schidigera contains natural plant compounds.

Together, these ingredients form a complete formula for your dog's daily joint care.

Which active ingredients are in it?

Our Hip & Joint Support Soft Chews contain eight carefully selected ingredients:

  • Glucosamine: a building block the body uses for components of cartilage.
  • Chondroitin: occurs naturally in cartilage and plays a role in retaining moisture.
  • MSM: provides sulfur, a substance that occurs naturally in connective tissue, among other places.
  • Green-lipped mussel: contains natural nutrients from the sea, including fatty acids.
  • Hyaluronic acid: a natural component of joint fluid that contributes to its lubricating properties.
  • Omega-3 fatty acids: provide additional fatty acids that are involved in various normal bodily processes.
  • Vitamin C: is important for normal collagen formation, a component of connective tissue.
  • Yucca schidigera: a plant extract that naturally contains various plant compounds.

The versions for small & medium breeds and for large breeds each have their own amounts of active ingredients, tailored to the weight class in question.

Can I also give the soft chews preventively?

Yes! You don't have to wait until your dog gets stiffer or starts having trouble moving.

Dogs that are still supple and active can also benefit from extra attention to their joints. Large breeds, active dogs and dogs that are getting a bit older in particular can use extra joint support.

By combining healthy food, enough exercise and daily joint care, you help your dog stay active for as long as possible.

A supplement can't guarantee to prevent joint problems, but it can be a valuable addition to a healthy daily routine.

Are the soft chews suitable for older dogs?

Absolutely! Especially as dogs get older, their joints deserve extra attention.

Maybe you've noticed your dog getting up a bit more slowly, having a harder time with the stairs or getting tired faster on walks.

Our Hip & Joint Support Soft Chews contain ingredients that fit with the normal function of cartilage, connective tissue and joint fluid.

That way, you give your loyal four-legged friend extra attention and support every day to keep moving as comfortably and actively as possible.

Noticing clear or increasing mobility problems? Then have a vet take a look as well.

Are the soft chews suitable for puppies and young dogs?

Healthy joints matter for young dogs too. Especially with large breeds, it's wise to pay extra attention to healthy development during growth.

Still, not every puppy needs a joint supplement. During the growth phase, the right balance of nutrients is especially important.

That's why, for puppies and young dogs, we recommend talking to your vet first before giving our Hip & Joint Support Soft Chews.

That way you know for sure that extra joint support fits your dog's age, breed and needs.

How long does one jar of soft chews last?

That depends on your dog's weight and the matching daily dosage. Our Hip & Joint Support Soft Chews are available in two versions.

Small & medium breeds – 60 soft chews per jar

  • 0–35 lbs (1 chew per day): 60 days
  • Over 35 to 65 lbs (2 chews per day): 30 days

Large breeds – 60 soft chews per jar

  • 66–100 lbs (1 chew per day): 60 days
  • Over 100 to 120 lbs (1.5 chews per day): 40 days
  • 121 lbs and up (2 chews per day): 30 days

These durations are calculated based on the normal maintenance dose.

Please note: for the first 4 weeks, we recommend a double starting dose. This means you'll use more soft chews during the starting phase and a jar won't last as long.

That way you can easily work out in advance how many soft chews your dog needs.

How do I give the soft chews to my dog?

It's easy! Our soft chews have a soft texture and are easy to give as a daily chew.

You can give them straight from your hand or mix them into your dog's regular food.

We recommend giving the soft chews during or after a meal, ideally around the same time every day.

That way, joint support becomes a regular, easy part of your dog's daily care.

What if my dog is picky and won't eat the soft chews?

Some dogs are just pickier than others!

Our soft chews have a soft texture and contain pork liver, among other things, which gives them a savory flavor that many dogs find appealing.

Won't your dog eat the soft chew straight from your hand? Then try breaking it into smaller pieces or mixing it into their favorite food.

That way you can still easily offer daily joint support.

Are the soft chews suitable for dogs with allergies?

Our Hip & Joint Support Soft Chews are made from carefully selected ingredients. Still, every dog can react differently to certain nutrients.

Does your dog have a known food allergy or a sensitivity to certain ingredients? Then always check the full ingredient list on the packaging or product page.

If in doubt, it's best to check with your vet. That way you know for sure the soft chews fit your dog's needs.

Can I combine the soft chews with other supplements or medications?

In many cases, dietary supplements can be part of your dog's daily care. Still, it's important to take possible overlaps in ingredients and dosages into account.

Our soft chews contain glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM and omega-3 fatty acids, among other ingredients. These substances can also be found in other joint supplements.

Is your dog already taking other supplements or medications, for example for pain or inflammation? Then talk to your vet first before adding the soft chews.

That way you know for sure the combination is right for your dog.

Can the soft chews cause side effects?

Our Hip & Joint Support Soft Chews are developed for daily joint support and are generally well tolerated by most dogs.

Of course, every dog is unique. That's why we recommend keeping a close eye on how your dog reacts to the supplement when you first start using it.

Always follow the recommended dosage on the packaging. Notice that your dog isn't reacting well to something? Then stop giving the soft chews and, if needed, talk to your vet.

Are the soft chews suitable for pregnant or nursing dogs?

With pregnant or nursing dogs, it's important to be extra careful with dietary supplements.

The safety of this specific combination of ingredients has not been sufficiently established for pregnant or nursing dogs.

That's why, in these situations, we always recommend talking to your vet first before giving the soft chews.

How long can I keep giving the soft chews?

Our Hip & Joint Support Soft Chews are meant as daily support for the joints and can be used for longer periods, as long as your dog tolerates them well.

Joint support isn't a one-time fix. Just like with healthy food, enough exercise and a healthy weight, consistency is important.

So you can keep giving the soft chews as part of your dog's daily care routine.

After the first 4 weeks, you switch to the normal maintenance dose. If your dog has existing joint problems or is on long-term medication, it's wise to coordinate use with your vet.

What happens if I stop giving the soft chews?

When you stop giving the soft chews, your dog no longer gets the supplemental joint-support ingredients every day.

Any changes you noticed during use may fade over time. Whether this happens, and how quickly, varies from dog to dog.

For consistent daily joint support, we therefore recommend regular use at the maintenance dose.

What if I forget to give the soft chews for a day?

No worries, forgetting a day can happen!

Just give your dog the normal recommended amount again the next day. You don't need to give extra soft chews to make up for the missed day.

For good daily support, regular use is more important than occasionally giving a larger amount.

So try to give the soft chews at a set time of day, for example with your dog's breakfast or dinner.

What if my dog accidentally ate too many soft chews?

Don't panic! Did your dog accidentally eat an extra soft chew? That doesn't have to be a problem right away.

Don't give any more chews that day, and then go back to the normal recommended dosage.

Did your dog eat a large amount, or do you notice they're not feeling well? Then contact your vet, just to be safe.

Always keep the jar out of your dog's reach so they can't help themselves to a snack!

How do I store the soft chews?

Store the soft chews in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.

Always close the jar tightly after use. This helps preserve the soft texture and quality of the chews as well as possible.

Keep the jar out of reach of children and pets.
